The US Army is buying 65 megawatts of solar and wind energy for one of the main military bases of the US Army, Fort Hood

The US Army has signed a contract in the field of energy. This will be the largest energy project of the US Army, for the implementation of which the Apex Clean Energy Corporation was selected. According to the terms of the contract, Apex Clean Energy Inc. will supply 56 megawatts of wind and saltwater power to the Fort Hood base in Texas.
This contract is signed for a period of 30 years, and its cost is $497.4 million, which, according to the statements of representatives of the American army, is $168 million cheaper than traditional electricity.

The solar farm will be built directly on the territory of the military base, and the wind farm will be built not far from the base. Starting next year, the two power plants are expected to fully power the Fort Hood military base for 28 years.
This project is not the first for the US Army. The US military already consumes 600 megawatts of renewable energy.
